Types of Line Managers

When we say a manager it sounds someone who is controlling a group of employees or sometimes administrating the organization. In simple terms, a person who is responsible for managing/molding other person's career.

In this blog we are going to discuss the managers with different types. Let's start:

  1. Type one: A manager who is 'Actually' a good leader. For him, juniors are important and valuable. He supports and motivates them to achieve higher standards within the organization.
  2. Type two: A very formal manager who is just a manager not a leader. He always follows the formal behavior with his juniors and guide them accordingly. His nature keeps his juniors restricted to ask any query from him because he is not a very friendly person. He is strict with the performance and always take a fair decision.
  3. Type three: A lazy manager, who is not concerned what their juniors are up to. He is not a manager nor a leader, he is just an employee with the manager tag. This type usually doesn't provide any benefit to their juniors because of their careless behavior.
  4. Type four: The aggressive, who always insults their juniors by scolding them in front of other employees. He is frustrating, irritating and not wanted manager in the organization. He doesn't know the meaning of motivation, leadership and 'Respect'.
  5. Type five: The Hypocratic: he is the most dangerous manager of the organization. He is not good with his juniors, but behaves well in front of upper management. For him, his juniors are nothing he always tries to disturb his juniors by giving bad feedback in their performance reviews. He is always ready to find out one negative point of their juniors and use this point to affect their review badly. Providing justification of feedback is not in his dictionary. Without any reason, this manager rejects the promotion case of his juniors. The most notable point is he himself doesn't know much about the latest concepts, but as he is a manager, he try to be over efficient in every way.
Good Manager
Worst Manager

So these were, five types of line managers. For me the best type is 'One' because this manager definitely understands his juniors. The worst type is 'Five' because this manager's strategy is hypocrisy. Due to his behavior most of the juniors are unable to progress in their professional lives. If the upper management is not taking any action against these managers than they are equally responsible for this wrong deed. They should take this seriously because this manager is playing with the future and emotions of many juniors, this should not be neglected in any way.
